Google I/O Connect Berlin 2024 is an important event for developers, tech enthusiasts, and industry leaders. It provides a platform to learn about the latest technological advancements, network, and gain insights from industry experts.
In the context of this year’s ShipIt edition, our internal hackathon, we offered the competition’s prize as a trip to Berlin from June 26-29 and two tickets to Google I/O Connect Berlin 2024, held on June 27.

During the Google I/O Connect Berlin 2024, our colleagues had the opportunity to participate and share their experiences with us, detailing the places they visited and the sessions they attended.
The event took place on 27 June in Berlin at Wilhelm Studios, a former factory transformed into a dynamic event venue. It brought together over 1,300 developers from more than 100 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, making it a truly international gathering. Despite the large number of attendees, the event was well organised, ensuring a smooth experience for all.

Highlights of the Conference Day
The day dedicated to Google I/O Connect Berlin 2024 was the most anticipated part of the trip. Our colleagues arrived early and engaged with various stands, participated in panels, and enjoyed interactive experiences, such as using AI to analyse videos for goal-scoring tips.
Paul, our UI/UX designer, who has a keen eye for design, appreciated the industrial style of the venue, a former factory converted into an event space. He found the atmosphere appropriate for a technical conference and easy to navigate between sessions and stands.
Our team valued the practical demonstrations of AI, such as analyzing videos to provide goal-scoring advice. The interactive experiences offered hands-on opportunities to see AI in action. They also enjoyed the wide variety of food options available throughout the day. Selecting from the numerous snacks was a bit of a challenge, but it enhanced the overall experience.
The event was well-organized, with informative presentations followed by Q&A sessions. The speakers delivered concise presentations that kept the audience’s interest. After the sessions, attendees could interact with the speakers, who encouraged further discussion.
The topics covered included the latest tech trends, products, platforms, and tools designed to help developers innovate and be more productive.

Getting Around Berlin
Berlin is a city known for its unique blend of modern infrastructure, rich history and diverse cultural scene. It is a place where you can explore historical landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate and the Berlin Wall, while also experiencing a vibrant arts scene with numerous museums, galleries and theatres. The city offers a variety of experiences, from historic sites to contemporary art spaces.
A few years ago we had the opportunity to experience Berlin during a teambuilding event and it continues to be a city that offers both educational and inspiring experiences.
During their visit, our team members Paul and Amalia explored notable sites like the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, the TV Tower, the Brandenburg Gate, and the Berlin Wall. They also visited the Spy Museum and the Film History Museum, both offering unique insights and interesting exhibits.
